Who is a good candidate?
Sometimes despite a good diet and exercise regime, parts of the body and face can remain stubbornly resistant to fat loss and toning. The double chin is one of those areas and in a 2015 survey conducted by the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), 67% of people who were asked about their chins said it was the extra “submental fullness” that bothered them.

Kybella received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 2015. According to the FDA, “Kybella™ is a cytolytic drug indicated for the improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe convexity or fullness associated with submental fat in adults”. The procedure has proven to be a sustainable non-invasive alternative to surgical procedures such as liposuction.
According to the clinical trials, 82.4% showed satisfaction and thought they had a very good improvement in their appearance. Trials have also concluded that the treatment is relatively safe and effective.
Kybella is a non-surgical treatment for the double chin as such it allows the fat pockets to be addressed without the risks, downtime and costs of surgery.
Liposuction is an invasive surgical technique with increased risks due to the use of an anesthetic. The recovery period is longer and there will be a minor scar in the region.
